Today we delve into the depths of Romans chapter 6 and talk about what it means… and what it doesn’t. You have to serve somebody… who’s it going to be?
You Gotta Serve Somebody
Shall we sin that grace may abound? Absolutely not!
Romans 6 is a great study on who you serve now that you are saved by grace. The catch is to not misunderstand the chapter out of context and hence use it to nullify all of Paul’s arguments in the letter up to this point. He asked this question because he knew it would be the logical conclusion of an unregenerate heart. So he makes the case for regeneration, new life, and servitude in the likeness of Christ.
Romans 6 does not teach freedom from the presence of sin… it teaches freedom from its power… its dominion over you. The point is not that you should never sin again… but that you should not want to. It is about putting Jesus on the throne of your heart instead of sin.
